USADA Solicits Nominations for the Second Annual LD Bowers Excellence in Anti-Doping Science Award

 The 2nd Annual USADA “Larry D. Bowers Excellence in Anti-Doping Science Award” will be awarded to an individual who has contributed to the advancement of anti-doping science over the course of their career. The contributions should have been made over an extended period of time and demonstrate independence of the investigator and excellence in scientific work. The award is open to any scientist who meets the criteria including academic researchers and scientists who work in WADA-Accredited anti-doping laboratories.
Nominations for the Excellence in Anti-Doping Science Award must be submitted by April 24, 2017. Individuals may nominate themselves or another scientist. The nomination packet must include:

  • A letter of nomination describing the nominee’s contributions to anti-doping science over a period of at least ten years;
  • An up-to-date version of the nominee’s curriculum vitae;
  • A prioritized list of the nominee’s five most important peer-reviewed contributions to anti-doping science including a paragraph with each indicating the importance of the work and the role of the nominee in the work; and
  • A list of three references who can comment on the quality of the nominee’s scientific work.

An Award Selection Committee will consider the nominees and select the recipient of the 2017 Award.
The Award will be presented at the 16th Annual USADA Symposium on Anti-Doping Science in Orlando, FL on September 30, 2017.
